Katy Perry has been cast as Wonder Woman in the upcoming Hollywood movie.

Our anonymous tipster submitted this photo.  Apparently this is the first official photo from the set of the Wonder Woman movie starring Katy Perry.  Although we fully believe it’s legit, we cannot verify its authenticity.

Today is Friday, and that means that there is a new SUPER PARTY for you to read!  In today’s Super Party adventure, Benny Bunny and The Queen are out skateboarding when they are recognized by a couple of kids, but it’s mistaken identity.

On a personal level, I really hope that you enjoy this one because I’m happiest with my drawings of The Queen than I have been in a long time.  She really is the star of the show, but you wouldn’t know it from how infrequently she appears.  I’ve laid a big nugget of her backstory in this edition so down the road, when the full story reveals itself, you can be all like “yeah, I caught that!”

Revolution 9.9.9 opens 09/09/09 (Number Nine… Number Nine… Number Nine…) at Space Gallery in San Francisco, the city that was the location of The Beatles’ last ever official concert in 1966, and runs to September 14.

The exhibition opens the same day as the release of The Beatles Rock Band video game and their re-mastered albums, exploring the band’s unmatched impact on popular culture through paintings, drawings, photography, sculpture, film and performance.

Revolution 9.9.9 opens with a reception on Wednesday Sept. 9, and will be capped with a live event featuring a performance by The Vows who will play two sets: the first as the psychedelic Beatles, and the second – after a drastic and radical costume change – as the Beatlemania-era mop tops.

This is a big week for movie trailers, as the San Diego Comic-Con is an increasingly vital part of the marketing campaign for Hollywood genre movies. That’s where the big studios go to debut the trailers for their big movies coming out the next year.

This year, the Alice in Wonderland trailer was getting a lot of attention after being leaked to the internet in the week leading up to Comic-Con. But Alice in Wonderland can officially sit down now that the Tron Legacy trailer is making the rounds on the web.

This looks amazing. Tron was definitely due for an update and this was really exciting news when they announced it last year. Disney had to get creative in the late 70s and early 80s when their animated features weren’t the draw that they once were, and Tron was one of the results of that era. Now history repeats (Yes Disney owns Pixar, but it is still a separate studio) and Tron Legeacy looks like a real passion project for people in the movie business who grew up as fans of the original. And to find out that Daft Punk is doing the score? That is exciting news.

And here is the official website, staged to look like a memorial page for the main character, Kevin Flynn, who went missing (into his computer) in the original. The potential here for an online marketing campaign along the lines of The Dark Knight or The Blair Witch Project is enormous.

MY THOUGHTS – I used to read both Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass at least once a year, until my copy went missing.  I hold this material very dear.

• Alice at a teenager – I can get with that.  That’s cool.  You have to sell the movie so making her a little older gives it sex appeal.
• The look of it – It’s visually arresting, but I fear that that’s all there is to it.  Tim Burton hasn’t done anything that’s engaged the emotions since Edward Scissorhands (Big Fish, a personal favorite, wasn’t all the way ‘the Tim Burton style’).  The excitement that surrounds his releases is the ultimate triumph of style over substance.  Full disclosure: I have only seen the first 20 minutes of Corpse Bride, and it looks promising.
• The Mad Hatter’s perspective – this trailer makes it look like the movie is from the Mad Hatter’s point of view.  I hope this is not the case, and that the trailer was only constructed that way for the sake of giving Johnny Depp top billing.

I am trying to learn the Beat It moves, and he keeps turning left when I would turn right. That one move is so hard to pull off because you cross your legs to go into a spin and I have been putting my left in front of my right and turning to the right since the eighth grade when I used to dance at the parties. Let me see if the King of Pop was left-handed.

Anyways, today is pretty chill and low key. Friday night I was at a Twitter meet-up with Casie Stewart and met Keri, the Canadian Explorer. I’ll talk more about her show later in the week but for right now click on the link and see why her theme song is so catchy that I have literally been singing it to myself all weekend.
