Know what I want to do?  I want to go to Vancouver.  Not right now, but soon.

I have been to the U.S.’s west coast, but I have never been to Canada’s west coast.  I have friends there and I have family there.  My grandfather who is a pastor lives there, and we have tons to talk about.

I think the most fun thing to do would be to start out from California, and road trip it up to B.C. through Oregon and Washington.

Then where would I go from there?  There’s no telling.  That’s the awesome part.

Can I vibe with you? Can I be real with you?

I love it here, just love the hell out of it and I don’t want to leave. But at the same time I am chomping at the bit to get started on my next cycle of work and I can’t wait to get back to Canada to get started. Plus, I am excited to watch Spring spring back home.

After lunch, we did some strolling about town and came upon City Hall. I got a shitty picture of it from the inside of a bus a few days previous, but that did not do justice to the beauty of the building. Rand, Dee, we have to go in there.

It seems they are no longer called the Devil Rays, just the Rays. But that makes me think of Man Ray, Salvador Dali’s collaborator, so they are henceforth to be known as the Tampa Bay Man Rays.

It’s a swing and a home run for the first batter of the game. It’s one/nothing Rays before we even sit down.

Crosby! Come on, bud, Jell-O Puddin’ Pops. That’s the way, Crosby.

Eight/nothing Rays in the fifth inning.

I was just in the bar and there were these cute little giggle girls all going up and ordering Red Headed Sluts. Yes, I’ll take seven.

Oh what’s this? A rally in the eighth inning! Home Run Oakland! Another man home, it’s eight to two!

That was a very anti-climactic ninth inning. Final Score: Man Rays 8, A’s 2.

Can you imagine if you had a metal roof?  A metal roof on your structure.

For a minute I was going to fly up to San Francisco, but then I thought that once you account for checking in on the Departures side and disembarking and waiting for luggage on the arrivals end, I don’t think I would actually save any time. And seeing the California countryside is something I wanted to do. Getting a drive sounded like the more luxuriant option.

Originally I was thinking about heading up to San Francisco on Thursday or Friday but I got a ride offered to me on Tuesday and had to take it! Just some dude from Craiglist responding to my ad about “Hey, who’s got room for me in their vehicle?”

The reality ended up being very different.

Got a little snack at Jack in the Box (saving the consumption of a meal for the best fast food place in the world! Wait for it…)

So what do you think we’re doing with the car unloaded at the side of the highway?

Busted tire! But Joe fixed it in record time.

And then we stopped for a late lunch at the best fast food place in the world. Now, I am a serious connoisseur of fast food burgers. I have had many tasty fast food burgers in my time.

But the best fast food burger is In-N-Out. Hands down. At home, it’s the Burger King Whopper. But from all over, In-N-Out is what’s ’bout it.

After that business with the tire falling apart, you’ll never guess what happened down the road.

A blown out tire. Dude had to drive a mile on the metal to get to a service station, where we waited an hour and a half for a mechanic to show and put a new tire on. It’s cool, it was a neat spot. I mostly just sat on a rock and read.

It was a long drive, but I made it safe and sound. Last night we went out a little bit and today was a big day of walking around. I’ll post pics from all that tonight. Right now we’re going to watch 60s Spider-Man cartoons and start to think about dinner.

My flight into LA was awesome. We got in 40 minutes early!! I love flying and I don’t mind shouting out Air Canada as the bomb. I’ve flown a lot in the last few years but Air Canada runs shit because the planes are newer and thus more luxuriant and they have the deal where you get a little entertainment centre in the back of the seat in front of you.

The first morning when I woke up, this is my view of the courtyard from the balcony of the place I’m staying. The pool is to the right!

Drivin’ on the 405:

That right there was my buddy Tony. As I type this, he is on the couch beside me reading the new 2nd edition of Benny Bunny On Wheels. I knew he was in the movie business, but I didn’t know how deep in it he was. He’s a camera operator, and he’s worked on a bunch of big productions. He was telling me about being on set during the making of Step Brothers when Will Farrell came over to ask what he was doing. He told Will that he was texting this girl, trying to get her to go out with him. Tony had to go look after something suddenly, and he left his phone in Will Farrell’s hands. When he came back, he discovered that Will had tried to help the situation by texting to this girl “This is Will Farrell. I think you should go out with Tony.” The girl didn’t believe him at first, but Tony got the girl any way.

That was Tony’s solo album. Jokes, it was a prop for a movie.

Last night I went out for dinner with my friend Lisa. After dinner, I wanted to go to Hollywood Boulevard and see all the touristy stuff around there.

Didn’t see The Beatles or Charlie Chaplin.

It was a bit of a hike to walk from Hollywood & Highland to Hollywood & Vine, but I had to see the Capitol Records building!!

Lisa is just in awe of the whole thing. She’s lived all her life in a place right beside L.A. called Montebello and she had never been to Hollywood Boulevard!

You will notice that this restaurant’s sign proclaims that it is a celebrity bar. Next time I’m down there, i will go there and I will take pictures of all of the celebrities hanging out in there.
