I Got a Haircut!

I usually don’t go for a haircut until my mop is so unwieldly that it doesn’t sit right no matter what I try to do with it. It’s gone through maybe two or three awkward phases and I can’t take it any more. This time, my hair was probably the longest it’s been in a couple of years.

When I start to think about getting it cut, every woman in my life starts telling me she likes it long, she likes my shaggy look, please don’t get it cut.

But here’s what I like: I like the feel of the wind on my neck and ears after they’ve been covered up for a couple of months.  I like being able to run water over my head and be done with it if I need to go out quickly instead of a whole routine involving a blow dryer and timing my departures around my hair being ‘set’.  I like not having those huge wings out the side every time I’m hit by a gust of wind.  When my hair’s long, one gust of wind is all it takes to ruin my look for a whole day.

It’s all about variety, switching it up, and something new.  And I really love when it gets long enough for the ladies to play with again a few weeks later.

I just need it long enough to throw around when I’m dancing and I’m good.

That was me yesterday.

The woman who snapped the ‘After’ photo above told me that this cut makes me look younger which is good because I haven’t been carded at the liquor store in a little while and I was starting to think “What are you trying to say???” when people guess 26 when we do that “How old do you think I am?” game.

I dig the new hair. It's radder than Ludacris.
