Toronto Blog Stars – Casie Stewart

This story about Casie being used as a case study in a University class on the Internet led to a mighty and rousing discussion on our favorite social media sites and best practices. I was reminded of how much I loved it when I would hear that I was brought up as a case study in art classes at the Ontario College of Art when I was selling comic books on the street. It’s about the hustle! Get the hustle on, get noticed.

And just about no one has been hustling as hard as Casie in the last year. Check her out at her site – casiestewart.com

    very cool..

Ok. so the reason why I've been staying quiet on the social media dicussions that you've been bringing up, on here lately, is I'm still working out in my head how I personally want to use it, for what I'm doing as my more proffesional side is blossoming, at the moment. I'm all about what people like Cassie can do with it. I'm twittering more.. FBing.. working out a system how to seperate privet me with public me, as I've set up ground rules for public be some years ago. Now that privet is closing in on Facebook very recently, I've had to add a new a second just for family stuff. I say this as I want to have a bigger presence on my pro side.. I like what I'm seeing with artist using ustream.. your thoughts on that?

What seems to be emerging in a big way right now is that you shouldn't try to keep a wall up between your personal social media activity and your professional social media activity. You should jump in with both feet, put your face on it, and let it represent you, your work, your art, your personality, your opinion, everything. People want to know the real you and that's how they get to know you and trust you and reach out to you. I just know for me, the more I open up and let people get to know me, the better I do. The more I hold back and try to control the message, the more they drift away.
