Call me on Google Voice

Full disclosure (this is not news to anyone who has been following my blog for a long time): I am a Google fan the way a Toronto resident is a fan of the Maple Leafs or a New York resident is a fan of the Yankees. They are fantastic, do fantastic things, and have fantastic stuff.

I have been eagerly awaiting a Google Voice invitation for a long time. So after I finally received it, imagine my disappointment when it told me that I can’t sign up for an account from Canada. Some rigmarole was required in order to get an American friend to log into my Google account and sign up for it for me. Now I have a Google Voice number! If this is the first you’re hearing about it, watch the video at the bottom of this post.

Click the button above and you can call me. Google will ask you for your number, then call you, then connect you to me (and right now my Google number goes straight to voicemail). Leave me a message! I want to see how it works. When I get notified of a new voicemail, I get a transcript of your message underneath the flash player with the recording of it. It’s pretty cool, even if the transcriber robots aren’t very good yet. I want to put them through their paces.
