a Long Walk to the Golden Gate Bridge

San Francisco and Golden Gate Bridge

When I was in New York last year, I did not get to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. I was in danger of leaving San Francisco without walking on the Golden Gate Bridge so I made sure that’s what I did for my last day in SF. We started out in that direction with the idea to just see what we see along the way.

This reminded me of a sign I used to see near my grandmother’s house when I was a kid. I think it’s the same one! I guess Ellis Brooks, whoever he is, decided to pack up and move south.

I don’t know who Gavin Coombs is, but I like him already!

Oh, I just Googled him. He’s not an artist or anything, he’s a real estate guy.

This is a statue of the guy who invented the television. Good on ya, G!

Those are the Lucasfilm offices in the background. No signs or anything, but I guess they don’t want Star Wars fans camping out.

It’s coming into view! I had no idea how far we had walked, or how far we had yet to go.

Look who’s going under the bridge! For a moment I thought this might be my former home on the turnaround cruise where it goes from the Mexican Riviera up to Alaska. But that’s not until May, and the nightclub hangs up over the top of the back on this one. I think this might be the Grand Princess. I was on the Sapphire Princess.

We thought we could take a short-cut to the bridge by taking this path through the sticks but it did not lead to the bridge. Instead it led to this real-life Hobbit hole. Someone had gone and literally built a house that burrows in underneath the trees. If we weren’t wearing fly threads, we could have got down in the dirt and wiggled between a bunch of branches in the back of the cave-looking part and gone into a whole little house that we could see in behind.

We’re here! I can’t believe we walked the whole way!

My homey Rando Calrissian lives over in the North-East part of the city but down in the middle kind of. The Golden Gate Bridge is on the North-West corner of the city. And we walked the whole way there! It’s far!

Good-bye, San Francisco! I will miss you!

Very neat SF/Golden Gate pix my man! It's pretty cool that you've found your “soul mate” town. It'll be interesting to see what evolves from it!
