Well that was fun!  Let’s find out who won, and then we’ll dive into the answers.

The official winner is Phil Litevsky, owner and proprietor of www.dopealot.com, the premier site on the web for Hip Hop photography.

But three people answered so quickly that I couldn’t believe the fun was over already so I’m doing something unprecedented.  Everyone who entered is getting a drawing!  Certain incorrect answers get marks for creativity.  My mother got one of the answers wrong but she is my mother so she can answer whatever she wants.

I have all of you as Facebook friends so I’ll get in touch with you there about how to claim your prize when it’s ready.  Two weeks from today, hold me to it.

ANSWERS

1. Only two members of Wu-Tang Clan got to perform a solo track on the Clan’s first album – Enter the Wu-Tang: 36 Chambers. Who were they?
ANSWER – They were Method Man and The Genius a.k.a. Gza, performing M.E.T.H.O.D. Man and Clan in Da Front, respectively.  I was listening to Clan in Da Front in the car two days ago and it got me like it never has before. So good.  I love how he takes that one idea and stretches it across almost the whole last verse.

2. What is the practical function of the high heels on cowboy boots?
ANSWER – To keep them from sliding out of the stirrup.  Perfect posture is a good guess, we’ll give it marks for creativity.

3. In 1997, Elton John released a re-do of his classic hit Candle In the Wind in tribute to Princess Diana.  Who was the subject of the original?
ANSWER – Marilyn Monroe.  By the way, am I alone in thinking that it’s a bit of a bitch move to both Ms. Monroe and Ms. Spencer to recycle Marilyn’s song and change the lyrics so it’s a song about Diana?

4. What is the only canon Beatles album that features only Lennon/McCartney compositions?
ANSWER – A Hard Day’s Night.  Live in Edmonton, while a dynamite album, contains one cover with Ringo Starr taking the lead for a performance of M.E.T.H.O.D. Man.

5. What Italian automaker got speed buffs’ hormones raging with the styling of its Testarossa model, in 1984?
ANSWER – Ferrari.  That was not a hard one.

6. What do me and Jim Morrison have in common?
ANSWER – Our middle names are both Douglas.  “Amazing character and Charisma (also free hand singers)” is also correct.  “You can have visions of both under the right medication” is also also correct.

7. Where could you watch a sunset over the Sea of Crisis, the Sea of Fertility, and the Sea of Nectar?
ANSWER – All of those geographical features are on The Moon.  The answer is The Moon.  Alex, I don’t know where you were going with Lambda, I’ll assume it refers to the Moon and give you the point.

8. What must all NHL players have two of, as required by the Trushinski Bylaw?
ANSWER – Eyes.  Two good eyes.  “Baby mamas” is more a ‘good to have’ than a ‘need to have’, but close enough.

9. What was the tallest building in the world before the Eiffel Tower was erected in 1889?
ANSWER – The Washington Monument.  This one almost caused some trouble because I suggested the question, thinking that the answer was “The Great Pyramid at Giza”, but Tony Schittz showed me his research proving that the answer is indeed the Washington Monument.  My mommy put the Cologne Cathedral, but that is the structure that the Washington Monument sent down to 2nd place.  But good research, mom, close enough.

10. Who is Barbara Millicent Roberts?
ANSWER – Barbie’s full name.  Barbie, as in the doll.  I thought this one was going to be a little harder, but I guess that’s the beauty of Google.

So I think this was less a trivia quiz and more a Google/Wikipedia scavenger hunt.
